Be Glorified!

I know many of you have been asking what’s the latest on my condition. This has been a slow process and I feel that I’ve been living life in limbo. After going to Duke and meeting with a second oncologist, she confirmed that I do need a mastectomy. However, she asked me to stretch my arms backwards to be examined and realized that it hurt my left arm from the shoulder down to do so. She sent a note to my first doctor and recommended a full body scan and a CT scan to assure the cancer had not spread.

For some reason, I thought cancer patients would be ushered in more quickly to get appointments. Yet, I have found that things move very slowly in the medical world – whether in Haiti or in my own country. I have finally gotten an appointment for September 22 and I should have a more concrete answer at what I am truly facing.

If the scans reveal that my cancer has spread, they will not perform a mastectomy. They will put me on hormone therapy to curtail the production of estrogen. If the cancer has not spread, then a mastectomy will be advised.

During this slow process, I have learned much. I felt the Lord spoke directly to me a couple of days ago to pray that He would be glorified. He impressed upon me that this was not about me. It was about Him. So I am praying that He will be high and lifted up during this process.

I am so very moved by your messages, cards, and letters. Some dear friends have told me they were up in the early hours of the morning — because the Lord woke them up to pray. I have been inundated with words of hope, encouragement, and love. I truly consider myself a wealthy woman when it comes to friendships and I love each and every one of you.

I’ll keep you posted on my doings and thank you for your continued prayers. I will ask that you will pray along with me, Oh Lord, be glorified in Dana’s situation. Thank you. 🙂
