Are you looking for an opportunity to bless others who are much less fortunate than you?Perhaps you’ve felt a nudge lately to help those who are truly hurting and you just haven’t known where to start. Allow me to give you a few facts about Haiti and the tremendous needs represented there.
Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere.
Many Haitians cannot find work. They barely scrape by and live a life of extreme poverty.
There has been a recent upsurge in kidnappings. Due to the escalation of gang warfare, not only are the rich a prey for ransom. Even the poor have been targeted. This is to strike fear into the hearts of the Haitian people.
Many young men are joining these gangs. They become “one of the group” and are provided for, thus alleviating their intense hunger and poverty. It’s a trap. Once you’re in, you can never leave.
NOTE: In 2006 my husband and I were kidnapped by a gang. I was released to raise the money for my husband’s release. The gang member who was assigned to guard him confessed to him, Pastor, I can’t get out. If I leave, the gang will kill me. If they don’t, I will be captured by the police. He took off his watch and asked my husband to remember to pray for him. We dont know what ever happened to John.
Job training of any kind costs an enormous amount of money. Often, those with college degrees still have no job for which they can apply.
Our school principal has had to send students home because their parents couldn’t pay the tuition. Thanks to the generous giving of our donors, Rehoboth has stepped in and paid their bills. They are back in school and enjoying the daily hot meal provided by Orphans Promise.
Due to the faithful giving of others, we are lifting heavy burdens from the shoulders of those we have now served for over 38 years. We’re training up strong, compassionate leaders. Many of them are already on staff with Rehoboth. Others have gone on to pastor other churches or oversee other tasks of administration. We are, at present, educating over 1200 students in three schools. Our students are some of the highest scoring children from their region on their national exams.
We have a great burden to send folks to school, help put folks to work, and give them a sense of dignity by earning their own income. Your giving can enable us to do more! We’re inviting you to partner with Rehoboth. Would you? Could you?
You can check the information below to learn how to give. Better yet, partner with us so we can depend on the regular, consistent giving which enables us to do greater things for the Lord. We can do SO much more together!
