Great things often happen in the midst of obscurity. Like a baby in a manger. Who could have guessed who that child would become? The Lord does His greatest work in silence, often accompanied by suffering. Prit and I just watched the movie Joseph and never tire of this story. The years of suffering in Joseph’s life are heart-wrenching to follow, not to mention what was going on in his brothers’ lives. Years and years of sorrow were spent in agony due to one solitary decision to sell their brother as a slave. It reaped a harvest of regret. But the beauty of it all was that, as Joseph laid in irons and everything about his life looked hopeless, the Lord was unfettered. I’m sure you know the story and its glorious ending.

There is a silent work going on in Haiti. Young men and women who have learned to depend entirely on the Lord’s mercy and provision for their lives, are being groomed to do great things for the country of Haiti. They understand lack. They have often hungered. You can read about one of our students (Eliakim) in John’s latest post on backtohaiti.com. These are extraordinary men and women that we have had the privilege of training and sending out as great leaders.

Now, we are setting our sights on next fall in order to be ready to continue to train up these young men and women to be top leaders in the nation of Haiti. Our 10th promotion has just graduated and there are many more students who are eager to come and study at our Bible Institute. We have set a goal of $20,000 US and are happy to say that one very generous donor has already donated $5,000!!! How’s that for a headstart?
