New Things

2020 is slowly winding down. It’s not exactly been the type of year that produces all kinds of warm, fuzzy feelings for most of our readers. Our hearts genuinely hurt for those of you who have been hit financially, fallen ill to the Coronavirus, or sadly – lost a loved one to it.

For me, it’s involved my cancer journey which continues as I type. Tomorrow, I go in for my second round of chemo. There will be four in all, so I will have hit the halfway mark. I was told that I would lose my hair by the third round, but the majority of it has already fallen out. I’ve spent my days lately in my pj’s and wear a toboggan to hide my almost-bald head. Yes, 2020, I’ll even hold the door for you as you leave.

But, in spite of the losses from this past year, there has been much wisdom to glean. I wrote a post about thankfulness a few weeks ago and was reminded this morning of the power of a positive attitude. I read this story from a Joyce Meyer devotional and am including it here to encourage you. I hope it will speak to you in the same way it’s spoken to me.

“Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” Isaiah 42:9

I heard the story of a doctor who was not a believer but who had discovered the power of the principle I am sharing with you. His prescription to his patients was to go home and repeat several times daily: “I am getting better and better every day.” He had such marvelous results that people traveled from all over the world to avail themselves of his services. Amazing! God said it first, and a man gets the credit. Do it God’s way! – Joyce Meyer – new day, new you
