Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God prepare a table in the wilderness? Psalm 78:19 ESV

We were in our old stomping grounds this past weekend. Boy, did we have a great time! Rock Church of Tarboro (NC) launched us to Haiti 36 years ago and it’s always one of our favorite places to go in the summer. We have longtime friends there who always welcome us back when we come and it makes us feel like we never left. We are so thankful for this haven.

But, that’s not all. There’s a phenomenon happening there as well. Pastors Mike and Mary Chatt are drawing in people of all ages who are so hungry for the Lord. They have gone to two services now to accommodate the folks who are coming from all different directions. In our early years at Rock, a prophetic word came forth declaring that Rock Church would become a Table in the Wilderness. Well, we are watching this reality come to pass and are so excited about what God is doing there. If you’re anywhere near Tarboro, please check them out for their Sunday morning services. You better arrive early though if you want a seat!

In a city which was once very affluent, Tarboro has suffered much due to major companies pulling out and moving elsewhere. Let’s not forget the major flood of 1999 which required federal help under the Clinton administration. Tarboro has certainly been reduced to what would seem like a wilderness. But, as we know, God often does his best work in the wilderness! After years of praying and laboring in this town, the Chatts are seeing the Lord respond and watching hungry souls finding their way to the table where they can find life-giving nourishment for their souls.
