Today, in my mind’s eye, I see the faces of the many people in Haiti who are working for Rehoboth Ministries or whose iives have been shaped by Rehoboth in various ways over the course of 38 years. Elementary and Bible School teachers, little children, youth, married couples, and the list goes on.

I read a profound statement in a devotional yesterday which caused me to reflect on those lives that have been touched. ”Educator D. Elton Trueblood is said to have written, ‘We have made at least a start in discovering the meaning in human life when we plant shade trees under which we know full well we will never sit.’ The little child who hungrily fills his stomach with the food provided for him, the young man who would never have a job otherwise if not having received employment from this ministry, or the Bible School student who would be living hand to mouth if he or she had not had the opportunity to study and obtain a degree are just a few examples of the trees we’ve planted (with your help). We may never see the full spectrum of what their lives will reflect. But, our prayer is that these burning embers will be spread to the next generation and so on causing the fire to never die out. We are raising up sons and daughters in Zion and it’s been a rewarding work.

Thank you for joining us in creating a legacy for future generations. May we always be asking ourselves, ”What am I planting today that may provide shade for another when I’m no longer here?”
