I haven’t written lately. I’ve hardly known where to begin! All the strength was drained from my body since the last chemo treatment. After already having being wiped out, I made the mistake (about three weeks ago) of trying to stand up for too long. With the freezer door open, I was searching for something to thaw out for lunch. Losing my balance, I fell backwards on the kitchen floor and paid for it for weeks with a sore back. In trying to break my fall, I grabbed hold of a kitchen chair on the way down and somehow hurt my right breast. If you’ve ever been injured in a part of your body, you suddenly become aware of the vital part all the nerves and tissue play in helping you get around. The simple act of sitting up, swinging my legs over the side of the bed, standing and steadying myself, then walking forward (hesitantly), has been extremely exhausting and painful. I am so thankful that the body has an amazing way of healing itself, but it takes time and much patience. Oh, to feel normal again! I am sure that I’m much better than I was because so many of you have been praying!
Here’s some timely advice to anyone who needs to hear it. If you’re sick, DON’T undertake a big project like refinancing your home (what were we thinking???) when you still have a ministry to care for. This season in my life is teaching me to take better care of me.
We are so grateful for so many of you who have checked in on me. We want to share a special word from our friend, Vic Langel, who has a special heart for us and for Haiti. We asked him if he would be willing to say a few good words for Rehoboth. Thanks Vic! Enjoy!
