”They Have No Diesel”

OIP.W86TD6kB3heQlH8Wnp0LXgHaJZThis morning, I received a message from Cola. Cola works at our house and oversees a multitude of responsibilities from shopping at the marché for us to overseeing buying fuel and operating our diesel generator. In his message he shared, ”Yo pa gen diesel” meaning ”They have no diesel fuel.” Not only is it not available at the gas tank, there is NONE for sale in Cap-Haitian!

No diesel fuel means we can’t run our generator. Not running our generator means our refrigerator won’t work or anything else which requires electricity. Even our gas stove has to have a little jolt of electricity to use the propane from the tank in order to cook food. Life, in general, becomes much more difficult because so much depends on that power – like even charging one’s telephone. We use our generator to store up energy on our batteries so that the electricity can last through the day.

Don’t get me started on what it’s like living in Haiti with no running fans!

One day our solar panels will eliminate this worry, but for now we must have electricity from another source.

I’m reminded of the story of the wedding at Cana. Mary, Jesus’ mother, came to Jesus and said, ”They have no wine.” I’m sure you remember the rest of the story. Jesus responded to Mary’s request and produced more than an ample supply of wine for the wedding guests. NOTE: No one was going to suffer for the lack of wine. Jesus performed his first miracle for the hosting family simply to save them from embarrassment and disgrace. What a Saviour!

Would you join us in prayer for a miraculous suppy of diesel fuel to appear in our city and the ability to get several tanks for our compound at a decent price? If the Lord will turn water to wine, will He not provide for one our most basic needs?

I can’t wait to share with you how the Lord provided this answer to prayer!

He’s Home Now

Gerald Wiggs

Gerald Wiggs

Pastor Gerald Wiggs from Middlesex, NC, exchanged his earthly body for his heavenly one on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Gerald was a dear friend of ours and his church (Gateway Christian Center in Middlesex, NC,) supported Rehoboth Ministries for several years. We have wonderful memories of the times that Gerald visited us in Haiti. His ministry to our people and his genuine love for them was so evident. Gerald always talked about coming back and he will be sorely missed. He always gave 100% and we are so grateful to have known him as a friend and fellow minister.

Gerald was one of the first people I (Dana) called from Canada after Prit had his first of two brain aneurysms. He was one of the most faith-filled people we ever knew! Our friends in Haiti were greatly saddened by the news of his passing, yet happy and confident that he is with the Lord.

Our condolences go out to the Wiggs family at this time, especially to, Geraline, his wife. We are so grateful to have had such a wonderful man as a friend and he will be sorely missed.  But…he’s home now.

Pastor Gerald founded a children’s home in the Dominican Republic which we visited several years ago. If you are interested in giving into a worthy ministry, this is one. Here is the information provided by the Wiggs family:

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Harvest, Love Revolution Children’s Home, 4737 Willeva Drive, Wake Forest, NC27587 or go to: http://www.loverevo.org/give.

There’s A Hole In Our Wall!

th

In our last post, https://rehobothhaiti.com/2020/07/03/its-the-bees-knees/, I shared about the great project that’s going forward concerning our bee hives. We are sooooo excited!

However, there’s a little glitch that has to be taken care of before we get started. Our back wall has some repairs that need to be made, for the hives will be right up against these walls. Not only is it important that the walls be repaired, we don’t want the folks in the surrounding vicinity to get any ideas about theft – yes, people even steal beehives! This has to be taken care of before we can go forward with our bee project.

Can you help?

The cost is : $1600 US.

It’s the Bee’s Knees!

image.png

Apiculture – technical term for beekeeping.

I had no idea what this meant! But, thanks to the giving of our Rehoboth Partners to our feeding fund, we will soon have 10 beehives set up on our compound in Sainte-Philomène. Not only that, but we have been able to obtain the help of one of the most sought-after professors in the north of Haiti. Professor Nelson is in the process of overseeing this venture for us and we are beyond excited!

It will take three months for our hives to begin producing honey. Since these funds came from our feeding program account, the proceeds from the sale of the honey will go back into the feeding program and  to the maintenance of the hives. Thanks to all of you who made this possible! If you would like to become a partner with our feeding program, that  would be the bee’s knees!

Message me at danaptl@gmail.com to find out how YOU can help!
